Canadian Experience Class Immigration Program
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is an immigration program designed to aid temporary foreign workers and international students who have at least one year of work experience in Canada to obtain Permanent Residency (PR).
Process:
- Applicants must express their interest to permanently immigrate to Canada.
- They must create an online Express Entry Profile
- They must receive an Invitation to Apply from the Canadian Government for a PR before they can apply under the Canadian Experience Class Program
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Language Ability
- meet the required language levels needed for your job for each language ability
- writing
- reading
- listening
- speaking
Work Experience
- have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada, in the last 3 years before you apply—you can meet this in a few different ways:
- full-time at 1 job: 30 hours/week for 12 months = 1 year full-time (1,560 hours)
- equal amount in part-time work: for example 15 hours/week for 24 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
- You can work as many part-time jobs as you need to meet this requirement.
- full-time work at more than 1 job: 30 hours/week for 12 months at more than 1 job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
- have gained your work experience by working in Canada while under temporary resident status with authorization to work.
Education
There is no education requirement for the Canadian Experience Class.
CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS and International Students
Since International students receive work permits upon completion of their studies, this program provides a quick and easy way to immigrate permanently in to Canada. In this case the applicant has already lived in Canada and has relevant Canadian experience. Students are required to have worked in Canada for a year after the completion of their course to apply for this class of immigration.
Note: Canadian experience Class is not applicable for those who wish to permanently settle in Quebec. However, education and work experience gathered in Quebec can be applied for Quebec program requirements.
